Should I quit Twitter and Bluesky?

I'm strongly considering it.

  1. They are almost useless to me now as a way to share things I'm writing or thinking. It's much easier to reach people on Substack, I think.

  2. The Twitter algorithm are just garbage now. And I was defending them a year ago as not as bad as people said.

  3. The network effect is disappearing. Fewer people I care about are using it as their base platform, and that quickly creates a downward spiral, especially when combined with Twitter's bias against links to external content.

  4. I still get some value out of reading at both places, especially for real-time Congress news. Which makes me think lurking might be my best bet.

Anyone have any strong opinions? I'm all ears.
