Why aren’t the liberal protestors carrying American flags?
I have watched a lot of videos of ICE protests, and rarely do I see an American flag among the protestors.
This is so far beyond stupid I can hardly believe it.
The American flag is like a cheat code for public political activity. As soon as you are carrying, you get undue sympathy from a huge swath of the observing public, and you get much more jarring pictures and videos when there is police misconduct. It’s cheap and easy and effective.
The corollary to this (h/t Nolan McCarty) is that carrying a foreign flag to a protest is just about the worst thing ICE protestors can do for their cause.
